AUROVILLE STAMPS – Watercolour and Pastel on Paper
Centre d'Art Citadines, Auroville, India
From December 9th to December 23th, 2017
A series of 20 works created for the 50th Anniversary of Auroville. The paintings are a representation of postal stamps meant to symbolise communication between all the nations in the world. The images show highly representative landmarks in an upside-down, right-side up play that reveals two complementary realities: the upper side of the stamp illustrates the Visible, what Auroville shows to the world, the symbols of its concrete realization since its foundation. The lower side, seen as mirror image, expresses what is latent, the Invisible that is slowly emerging from the depth of a hidden plane in order to help shape the ways of tomorrow.
